New Dems Win Big in Iowa Primaries, Await California Results

Today, New Democrat Coalition Action Fund (NDAF) Chair Greg Stanton (AZ-04) issued a statement after NDAF-endorsed candidates Christina Bohannan (IA-01) and Sarah Trone Garriott (IA-03) won their primary elections. The NewDem Action Fund was an early endorser of both Bohannan and Trone Garriott, who are also members of the DCCC’s coveted Red to Blue program.

Races have yet to be called in California, where NDAF-endorsed candidates Dr. Jasmeet Bains (CA-22), Melissa Hernandez (CA-14), and Jacqui Irwin (CA-26) are in strong positions as votes continue to be counted.

“New Dems were proud to support Christina Bohannan and Sarah Trone Garriott from the start. They are exactly the kind of capable, commonsense leaders who can win tough races and deliver results for Iowans,” said NDAF Chair Greg Stanton. “Christina and Sarah are crucial to our efforts to take back the House majority. Tonight, they cleared the Democratic field and are heading into November with real momentum, where we’re confident they can flip their seats and turn Iowa blue.”

Stanton continued, “New Dems continue to closely monitor the pending results from the California primaries, where our candidates Dr. Jasmeet Bains, Melissa Hernandez, and Jacqui Irwin are well-positioned to win their nominations and advance to the general election in November.”
