New Dems on Johnny Garcia’s Runoff Win in TX-35 as a Victory for Common Sense

Today, New Democrat Coalition Action Fund (NDAF) Chair Greg Stanton (AZ-04) issued a statement celebrating NDAF-endorsed candidate Johnny Garcia’s victory in the primary runoff for the Democratic nomination in Texas’s 35th district.

“Johnny Garcia’s victory sends a clear message: voters will reward candidates who do the work, speak truth to power, and stay focused on delivering results,” said NDAF Chair Greg Stanton. “National Republicans tried to manipulate this primary by elevating a virulently antisemitic candidate. Johnny Garcia exposed their scheme, kept the focus on San Antonio families, and won by running the strongest campaign in the field. His victory speaks to the strength and resilience of our New Dem-endorsed candidates this cycle, and we’re ready to help him carry that momentum into November.”

Stanton continued, “I’m proud of the momentum New Dems are building in Texas, from endorsed candidates like Johnny Garcia and Bobby Pulido to our incumbent Members defending the frontlines. These are the races that will decide the House majority, and New Dems will keep leading the fight to flip and hold the critical seats we need to win in November.”

Ahead of the upcoming midterm elections, New Dems are endorsing candidates early and often in the districts that will determine the House majority. Johnny Garcia extends New Dem-endorsed candidates’ 100% success rate in contested primaries this cycle, joining Bob Harvie and Janelle Stelson in Pennsylvania, Denise Powell in Nebraska, and Melissa Bean in Illinois.
