Today, New Democrat Coalition Action Fund Chair Greg Stanton (AZ-04) issued a statement following the Supreme Court’s 6-3 decision that strikes down key Voting Rights Act provisions that protect minority representation in Congress.
“This Supreme Court decision supercharges Republican efforts to rig our elections by silencing minority voices in American politics and erasing decades of progress.
“Let’s be clear: Donald Trump and House Republicans know they can’t win on their record of higher costs, foreign wars, and healthcare cuts. That’s why they’ve systematically worked to rig our elections and rip representation from the hands of American voters.
“This is a blow, but the fight isn’t over. New Dem Members and candidates will fight tooth and nail in the midterm elections and beyond to represent the voices of every American, no matter how Republicans try to game the system. Together, we can take back the House and protect fair representation in our government.”
