New Dem-endorsed candidates make up majority of the initial Red to Blue list
Today, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) announced its first list of Red to Blue candidates for the 2026 midterm elections, identifying priority candidates running in Republican-held districts. This initial list of 12 Red to Blue candidates includes seven NewDem Action Fund-endorsed candidates: Jonathan Nez, JoAnna Mendoza, Christina Bohannan, Sarah Trone Garriott, Paige Cognetti, Janelle Stelson, and Rebecca Cooke.
In the 2024 election cycle, each of the nine Red to Blue flips was achieved by a New Dem candidate, while New Dems defended 20 Frontline Members and elected 10 candidates in districts that voted for Trump. New Dems flipped eight seats combined across the 2022 and 2020 elections, and was the only ideological caucus to flip seats in 2020. Earlier this month, New Dems raised $1.1 million for the DCCC as both organizations work to protect frontline seats and win in Republican districts.
NewDem Action Fund Chair Greg Stanton (AZ-04) and Recruitment Chair Pat Ryan (NY-18) issued the following statement on the announcement:
