Melissa Bean is the 10th candidate New Dems have endorsed ahead of the 2026 midterm elections
Today, the New Democrat Coalition Action Fund announced its endorsement of Melissa Bean in the race for Illinois’ 8th district.
A former three-term Representative of IL-08 and Member of the New Democrat Coalition, Melissa is well-positioned to defend this close district to help New Dems deliver the House Democratic majority in 2026.
“New Dems are proud to support Melissa Bean, an experienced lawmaker with an exceptional track record of delivering for the people of Illinois,” said NDAF Chair Greg Stanton. “As a former Vice Chair of the New Democrat Coalition, Melissa knows better than anyone how to campaign on commonsense policies, earn the trust of hardworking Illinoisans, and deliver real solutions to lower costs and grow the economy in Congress. Now with 10 endorsed candidates, New Dems will continue to ramp up our work to support the strongest candidates in the toughest races to take back the House in 2026.”
"I’m deeply honored to have the endorsement and support of the New Dems – the largest coalition of House Democrats, home to so many trusted and proven leaders, and my own intellectual home during my time in Congress,” said former Representative Melissa Bean. “I was proud to work alongside my New Dem colleagues to deliver some of the most notable progress our country has ever seen, including passing Obamacare and making healthcare more accessible for millions. At a time when so many Americans are deeply concerned about their economic future, their personal freedoms, and our democracy, I’m ready to get back to work with the New Dems to build on our progress and show the American people that problem solving, common sense, and solutions are not just possible, but necessary."
