New Dem Chair Applauds Harris’ Trip to the Southern Border, Calls for Congressional Action on Border Security

Vice President Harris made it clear that she shares New Dems’ commitment to securing our border, fixing our broken immigration system, and keeping Americans safe.

Washington, D.C. — Today, New Democrat Coalition Action Fund Chair Annie Kuster (NH-02) issued the following statement after Vice President Kamala Harris delivered a speech in Douglas, Arizona on the need for comprehensive border security and immigration reform:

“New Dems have continuously worked to find common ground in Congress to secure the southern border and address our broken immigration system. Today, Vice President Harris made it clear that she shares New Dems’ commitment to delivering pragmatic border security solutions for the American people.

“For too long, Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans have used the southern border as a political prop to spread fear and division, shutting down any effort to take bipartisan action. It’s time to turn the page on talking points: Congress must act to both secure the border and improve our immigration processes to fulfill our promise as a nation of immigrants.

“From dispatching more resources and border patrol agents where they’re needed most to cracking down on the flow of deadly drugs like fentanyl, Harris and New Dems are laser-focused on effective and common sense solutions. As we fight to deliver a Democratic House majority in November, we look forward to breaking through partisan gridlock to get this done.”
