New Dems Endorse Adrian Boafo in Maryland and Melissa Hernandez in California

Today, the NewDem Action Fund announced its endorsement of two candidates vying for the Democratic nomination in crowded primaries ahead of the upcoming midterm elections: Adrian Boafo (MD-05) and Melissa Hernandez (CA-14)

“New Dems are confident that Adrian and Melissa are the strongest and most capable candidates in their field. They are running smart campaigns built on grassroots support with the right message to win their nominations and run through the tape in November,” said NewDem Action Fund Chair Greg Stanton (AZ-04). “Adrian and Melissa are pragmatic public servants with a strong track record of delivering for their communities, and they embody the qualities we seek out in future New Dem Members. We’re proud to stand with them, and I look forward to welcoming them both to Congress next year.”

"I'm proud to have the support of the New Democrat Coalition,” said Adrian Boafo. “As someone who has spent my career in state and local government building bridges and delivering for working families, I'm ready to bring that same energy to Congress. Washington needs leaders focused on achieving results, and that's exactly the kind of leadership Maryland's Fifth District deserves."

"I'm thrilled to earn the endorsement of the New Democrat Coalition Action Fund, because New Dems and I share the same belief: when you work hard, you should be able to get ahead. As Mayor of Dublin, I brought people together, put aside differences, and found real solutions that kept our community safe and healthy,” said Melissa Hernandez. “That's the same common-sense, pragmatic approach I'll bring to Congress. Washington is broken because too many leaders are barely working and not delivering for the people they serve. New Dems are different. We're focused on representing people how they are, not how we want them to be, lowering the rising costs of housing, healthcare, and childcare, defending American values, and proving that government can actually work for you again. I'm ready to fight for California and get things done."
