Today, NewDemAction Fund Chair Greg Stanton (AZ-04) released a statement following news of the passage of California’s Proposition 50, to temporarily enact new Congressional maps in the state.
“Democrats did not start this redistricting fight, but tonight showed that we will not stand aside while Republicans attempt to tilt the 2026 election in their favor. The voters of California have shown that hardworking men and women across the country want to stand up to the Trump Administration and congressional Republicans’ extreme agenda, and with the passage of this important measure Democrats are one step closer to securing the majority in the upcoming midterms.
“New Dems have proven to be the key to retaking the majority. In 2024, all three candidates who flipped California House seats were New Dems. In 2026, we will build on this momentum, expand the battle map, and prove once again that New Dems are the majority makers.”
