Today, New Democrat Coalition Action Fund Leadership issued the below statement following Vice President Harris’ decision to select Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate:
“Today, Vice President Harris announced Minnesota Governor, our former House colleague, a Veteran and our friend Tim Walz as her running mate, and New Dems couldn’t be more excited about what this means for our country, party, and the American people. Governor Walz earned this role.
“He brings experience, talent, and a fresh perspective to the Democratic ticket, shares NewDems priorities, and, most importantly, will be a true partner to our next President, Kamala Harris.
“Tim Walz also shares NewDems and Harris’ pragmatic approach to politics and has a background in building the broad, bipartisan coalitions Democrats will need to win this election. Governor Walz has proven that leading from the middle, embracing a big tent, and rejecting partisan litmus tests is how we deliver for the American people. Walz stands in stark contrast to Trump’s running mate, J.D. Vance, whose hunger for power has turned him into a MAGA loyalist and right-wing extremist. Meanwhile, Governor Walz has never turned his back on his core values, has always put the American people first, and has repeatedly challenged the dangerous policies personified by Trump and Vance.
