NewDems are proud to endorse Johnny Olszewski (MD-02), Sarah Elfreth (MD-03), and April Delaney (MD-06), Colin Van Ostern (NH-02), John Avlon (NY-01) and Rebecca Cooke (WI-03)
Washington, D.C. — Today, the New Democrat Coalition Action Fund is excited to announce its endorsement of six candidates running in critical races across the country: Johnny Olszewski (MD-02), Sarah Elfreth (MD-03), and April Delaney (MD-06), Colin Van Ostern (NH-02), John Avlon (NY-01) and Rebecca Cooke (WI-03).
“Each of the six candidates NewDems are endorsing today are prepared to deliver for Democrats this November, from winning tough races in red-to-blue districts to maintaining control of key open seats,” said New Democrat Coalition Action Fund Chair Annie Kuster (NH-02) and Recruitment Co-Chairs Pat Ryan (NY-08) and Josh Harder (CA-09). “As the NewDem Action Fund continues to strengthen and expand our reach, we’re working harder than ever to give our endorsed candidates the support they need to fight back against far-right extremism in every corner of the country. We look forward to putting our full political weight behind John, Colin, Rebecca, Johnny, Sarah, and April as we approach November.”
"The New Democrat Coalition is focused on building an economy that works for everyone, combating climate change, and strengthening American competitiveness on the global stage,” said Johnny Olszewski (MD-02). “Their endorsement is a testament to our shared values and I am honored to join the coalition. Together, we can tackle the challenges of our time with innovative solutions and a forward-thinking approach that grows our economy and expands opportunities for all Americans."
“I am from the ‘get stuff done’ wing of the Democratic Party, and I believe making government work for all Americans is one of the most important things we can do to strengthen democracy,” said Sarah Elfreth (MD-03). “I am proud to have support from the New Democrats because we share a vision for promoting innovation and competitiveness and ensuring America remains a global leader in the 21st century.”
“I am so proud to have the endorsement of the New Democrat Coalition - inclusive thought leaders who steer away from hyper-partisanship and instead opt to build bridges with a solutions oriented approach to politics,” said April Delaney (MD-06). “My ‘common sense, common ground’ campaign completely syncs with their focus on building a brighter, more equitable and more prosperous future for all our communities. Thank you!”
"Holding New Hampshire’s Second District is essential to flipping the House this November, and I’m honored to have NewDems with me in this fight,” said Colin Van Ostern (NH-02). “As a two-term NH Executive Councilor and a business leader at some of the state’s most innovative private sector companies, I understand the importance of working across party lines to achieve results. I’m looking forward to joining my NewDems colleagues in Washington to lower household costs for hardworking families, protect reproductive rights, and ensure our government is delivering for everyday people."
"I'm deeply honored to receive the New Democrat Coalition endorsement ahead of our June 25th primary in NY-01. It's especially meaningful because I've been a New Democrat at heart since my earliest interest in politics,” said John Avlon (NY-01). “I volunteered on Bill Clinton's campaigns in college because I was so inspired by his New Democrat approach, rooted in Opportunity, Responsibility and Community - ideas that can still usefully guide us today. Democrats win when we build broad coalitions that find common ground to pursue the common good and then move America forward. I'm grateful for their confidence in our Common Sense Democrat campaign to flip this swing district in Suffolk County and look forward to working with them to rebuild the middle class, defend reproductive freedom and strengthen our democracy when Democrats win back control of Congress."
"I'm thrilled to earn the endorsement of the New Democrat Coalition. They represent a group of commonsense legislators fighting to solve problems for people – exactly what we need more of in Congress,” said Rebecca Cooke (WI-03). “Restoring pragmatic leadership focused on delivering results for folks across Western Wisconsin is exactly why I am running for Congress, and why I know we will defeat radical Derrick Van Orden and his dangerous agenda in November."
