NewDem Chair Statement on Republicans' Extremist Agenda and Republican National Convention

“Behind the false promises and culture wars of the RNC, Republicans hide their real plan for a second Trump presidency: Project 2025.”

Washington, D.C. — Today, New Democrat Coalition Action Fund Chair Annie Kuster (NH-02) issued the following statement reacting to the Republican National Convention:

“The 2024 election is a choice, not just between two presidential candidates, but between two visions of America’s future: one where democracy, the rule of law, and our fundamental freedoms are protected, and one where they are abandoned for a far-right, extremist agenda.

“Behind the false promises and culture wars of the RNC, Republicans hide their real plan for a second Trump presidency: Project 2025.

“Project 2025 is a complete takeover of our institutions and democracy by Trump and his loyalists. It includes banning abortion nationwide, restricting access to birth control, and tracking womens’ pregnancies; eliminating checks and balances established by our founders to concentrate power for the President to persecute political opponents; raising taxes for the middle class, eliminating federal education funding, slashing Social Security for future generations, and gutting Medicare. Republicans promise to execute this frightening agenda if they win in November.

“Republicans claim they want unity, but in reality they want complete control over our government and the American people. The United States was founded on the very freedom and liberty far-right Republicans are trying to take away. For the sake of our democracy, we must defeat Donald Trump and make sure Democrats control the House and Senate in November. That’s why NewDems are pouring everything we have into fighting back against extremism and winning up and down the ballot in November.”
