Curtis Hertel has the experience necessary to keep this seat blue, following NewDem Rep. Elissa Slotkin’s decision to run for U.S. Senate
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the New Democrat Coalition Action Fund announced its endorsement of Curtis Hertel for Michigan’s Seventh Congressional District in Congress. This is a newly open seat and top target for Republicans following NewDem Rep. Elissa Slotkin’s decision to run for the U.S. Senate. Keeping this battleground seat blue in 2024 will be essential to ensuring Democrats take back the House.
Throughout his career in public service, Curtis has worked across the aisle on bipartisan legislation to improve the economy for working families, create jobs, cut taxes, and preserve Michiganders fundamental rights and freedoms. Curtis will be the candidate to beat in the general election.
“Just like NewDem Rep. Slotkin, Curtis Hertel embodies NewDems’ pragmatic approach to politics. That’s why the Action Fund is excited to endorse his candidacy for Congress in 2024,” said New Democrat Coalition Chair Annie Kuster. “Curtis understands that in order to get things done, you must work with people on all ends of the political spectrum. It’s through that mindset that he’s been successful in advancing legislation to lower costs for Michiganders, bring back manufacturing jobs, increase public safety, and more to support the middle class.”
“In order to flip the House in 2024, we must hold onto the seats currently represented by Democrats,” said NewDem Action Fund Recruitment Co-Chair Josh Harder. “Curtis has what it takes to keep this key seat blue, and NewDems look forward to working with him to ensure he wins this key race.”
"I am excited and proud to receive the New Democrat Coalition Action Fund endorsement in my campaign for Michigan's 7th Congressional District,” said Curtis Hertel (MI-07). “I've always believed that the only way to accomplish our shared goals is to take the time to listen and work with others to find solutions that help everyone. My values and approach to public service align with the bipartisan, results-oriented vision of New Dems and, if elected, I look forward to the opportunity to work with New Dems members to get things done."
