NewDem Action Fund Endorses Shontel Brown for Congress in OH-11’s Democratic Primary
NewDems offer full support after formally adding Brown to “Candidate Watch List” earlier this year
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today the New Democrat Coalition Action Fund endorsed Shontel Brown in the Democratic Primary for Ohio’s 11th Congressional District. Shontel Brown is the first woman and first Black person to serve as the Chair of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party, the largest Democratic county in Ohio. A native Clevelander, she also serves on the County Council and represents one of the most diverse districts in the County.
“Shontel Brown shares our coalition’s commitment to growing our economy by creating new opportunities and good jobs by putting results over rhetoric,” said New Democrat Coalition Action Fund Chair Congressman Brad Schneider. “NewDem Action Fund is proud to endorse Shontel Brown for Congress in OH-11’s Democratic primary because she will be both a collaborative colleague in our Democratic majority and an impactful advocate for Northeast Ohio.”
"It is an honor to be endorsed by NewDem Action Fund. In Congress, I will work alongside NewDem Members, our House majority and the Biden administration to stop gun violence, expand access to health care and deliver economic opportunity to Northeast Ohio,” said Shontel Brown.
Made up of 95 Democrats, NewDems advocate within the Democratic Party and Congress for new ideas and new approaches to move America forward. The New Democrat Coalition is the largest ideological caucus amongst House Democrats and represents more than forty percent of House Democrats. Formed by Members of the New Democrat Coalition, the NewDem Action Fund helps re-elect House NewDems and elect new, like-minded leaders who can help develop a positive policy agenda and message.
